Bundesliga club VfB Stuttgart has appointed ARMIN VEH as its new head coach. The 53-year-old, who won the Bundesliga title with Stuttgart in '07, "will sign a two-year contract." Veh succeeds HUUB STEVENS, who "resigned after the final game of the season." Stevens said, "I will leave the VfB. I feel empty" (BILD, 5/12). ... Austrian football Bundesliga side FC Red Bull Salzburg "presented its new head coach" ADI HÜTTER on Monday. The former coach of SV Scholz Grödig "signed a two-year contract with the team." The 44-year-old replaces ROGER SCHMIDT, "who left the club to become the new head coach of German Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen" (KURIER, 5/12). ... German Hockey League (DEL) club EHC Red Bull Munich has appointed DON JACKSON as its new head coach. The 57-year-old, who won five DEL titles in six years with Eisbären Berlin, replaces PIERRE PAGE, "who took over the position of Red Bull ice hockey director" (SID, 5/12). ... Liga MX side Chivas Guadalajara was "expected to introduce" CARLOS BUSTOS as its new coach on Monday afternoon (LA AFICION, 5/11). ... Scottish Premiership sides St. Mirren and Heart of Midlothian both "parted company with their managers" on Monday. St. Mirren Manager DANNY LENNON's contract was not renewed and Hearts Manager GARY LOCKE was "told he was no longer required." New Hearts Owner ANN BUDGE wielded "the axe on her first day in charge" as chair and CEO. Locke's assistant, BILLY BROWN, was also released. Former "Scotland boss CRAIG LEVEIN" is taking charge "as director of football and ex-Jambos defender ROBBIE NIELSON" is stepping in as first team coach (Scotland DAILY RECORD, 5/12). ... Iranian football club Sepahan "extended the contract with its Croatian coach ZLATKO KRANJCAR" for one year. Kranjcar, 57, took the reins of Sepahan in '11, and "won the Iran Professional League title with the Isfahan-based team in his first year" (XINHUA, 5/12). ... EPL side West Brom “parted company” with Manager PEPE MEL “by mutual consent.” In a statement on its website, the club said, "Both parties have decided to go their separate ways following talks between the board of directors and the head coach." The Spaniard took over on an 18-month contract after STEVE CLARKE “was sacked in December” (London GUARDIAN, 5/12). … Premiership rugby side Gloucester announced that Dir of Rugby NIGEL DAVIES has left the club “with immediate effect.” The former Wales center “has paid the price for a poor season that finished with the team ninth in the table.” CEO STEPHEN VAUGHAN: "Following extensive discussions between members of the Gloucester Rugby board with regards to the future direction of the playing department, the club has decided to part company with director of rugby, Nigel Davies" (PA, 5/12).
