Franchise Notes: Spanish Businessman Confirms Interest In Buying Real Zaragoza

Spanish businessman Mariano Casasnovas "confirmed in a statement his interest, along with a group of collaborators, in buying a majority share" in Spanish second division side Real Zaragoza. The collaborators "interested in the acquisition are being kept confidential and have analyzed the current situation of the shares in the club." Casasnovas said in his statement that Real Zaragoza Owner Agapito Iglesias expressed his "willingness to hold direct negotiations" (EFE, 5/6). ... Spanish second division side Las Palmas President Miguel Angel Ramírez announced on Tuesday that "he reached an agreement with former club exec Manuel García Navarro" to cover a debt of €4.5M ($6.3M), "concluding the club's bankruptcy 10 years later." Ramírez said that "an agreement was reached 20 days ago and was officially signed Tuesday morning" (EFE, 5/6).
