BBC Sports Editor DAVID BOND "is to leave the corporation five weeks before the start of the World Cup." Bond is leaving "to join Milltown Partners," the agency set up by the Prince of Wales former PR PADDY HAVERSON and ex-Google senior exec DJ COLLINS. Bond, the London Telegraph's former sports editor, took the role at the BBC in Dec. '09 (London GUARDIAN, 5/2). ... Former Australian cricketer ROD MARSH has been appointed Australian cricket's new chairman of selectors. Fellow Test player MARK WAUGH will join the four-man committee alongside the recalled TREVOR HOHNS. Marsh "has been elevated to the role" following the retirement of JOHN INVERARITY, while former all-rounder ANDY BICHEL "has also been replaced." Australian coach DARREN LEHMANN "retains his position on the selection committee" (AAP, 5/1). ... Cricket Australia Chair WALLY EDWARDS announced that recently retired Rio Tinto Managing Dir DAVID PEEVER has been elected as deputy chairman of Cricket Australia’s Board of Directors. Peever was appointed as an independent CA director in Oct. '12 as part of broad governance changes to Australian cricket. He currently sits on the CA Remuneration Committee. He has served on the exec committee of the Queensland Cricket Association (Cricket Australia). ... TIM GAVIN "has been re-elected" as president of the New South Wales Rugby Union. He "was elected for a further 12-month term at the NSW Rugby Union annual general meeting at Moore Park in Sydney." Under the NSW Rugby Union's constitution, "he will spend a third and final year in the position," with fellow former state captain MICK MATHERS continuing as VP (WIDE WORLD OF SPORTS, 5/2). ... Rugby Football League Dir of Projects/Planning SALLY BOLTON "will oversee preparations" for the 2017 World Athletics Championships in London following "her successful work" as GM of the 2013 Rugby League World Cup. Bolton will become managing director of the organizing committee for the IAAF World Championships and the Int'l Paralympic World Championships (SKY SPORTS, 5/2). ... Spanish second division side Sporting Gijon coach JOSÉ RAMÓN SANDOVAL "was fired as the team's coach." His "position will be covered" by ABELARDO FERNÁNDEZ, who will "take the reins for the remainder of the season" (AS, 5/4).
