Spanish Basketball League Side Bilbao Basket Players Receive Portion Of Owed Payments

Spanish Basketball League (ACB) side Bilbao Basket's players "canceled their strike and later received some payment from the club's alternative management group, but some payments were not made," according to Alfonso Herrán of AS. The five businessmen that replaced former Bilbao majority shareholder Gorka Arrinda "have not found either liquidity or a bank guarantee to request a loan." Now Bilbao "is in the hands of an institutional rescue." The "club's shareholders meeting on May 5 could prove ineffective" (AS, 4/23).
