A Scottish League 1 Rangers fan group insisted on Monday night that its "decision to withhold season-ticket money would not push the club into a second administration," according to David McCarthy of the Scotland DAILY RECORD. The Union of Fans -- which is backing former Rangers Dir Dave King's bid to "bring investment to Ibrox -- urged fellow supporters not to be 'emotionally blackmailed' into buying season books in the fear that a failure to do so" would lurch the club into another insolvency event. A "statement released by the group -- which covers the biggest and most influential supporters' groups -- revealed that it has taken legal advice and will now push ahead with setting up a fund where season ticket cash can be deposited" (DAILY RECORD, 4/15). The BBC reported Rangers said that "an update on their business review will be issued" on April 25. A statement on the club website, however, said, "The board confirms, in accordance with its previous announcements, that the business review will be completed as planned and an update will be issued to shareholders and supporters on 25 April, ahead of the season ticket renewal deadline as previously indicated" (BBC, 4/14).
