Super League Rugby Side Bradford Bulls Launches Appeal Against Six-Point Deduction

Super League rugby side Bradford Bulls has "launched an appeal against the Rugby League Football's imposition of a six-point deduction for going into administration," according to the PA. The Bulls said that they have "already received the go-ahead from the RFL to fight the penalty," which has condemned Bradford coach Francis Cummins' team to bottom spot in the Super League, and "are waiting for a hearing to be arranged." It has been "almost seven weeks since the RFL announced the sanction but less than three weeks since Bradford were taken over by the Leeds-based businessman Marc Green" (PA, 4/14). The BBC reported the independent panel "could uphold the current decision, decide to deduct the club fewer points or rule that there should be no points deduction at all." This is the first time a Super League side has "lodged an appeal against a points deduction for entering administration" (BBC, 4/14).
