Argentine Football Association Says Goal-Line Technology Not Currently In Its Plans

Argentine first division side River Plate coach Ramón Díaz asked following his team's loss in a match on Sunday night against Belgrano -- which featured "an officiating error on a goal by Belgrano" -- for "Argentine football to, for once and for all, use technology to determine whether such plays are goals," according to Matías Bustos Milla of CLARIN. Argentine FA National Officiating Dir Miguel Scime said that "the call was wrong." The situation "has revived an old debate: when will technology be used to define this type of action?" The AFA said in a statement that "this technology is not in anyone's plans and that there are other more important topics to resolve before this" (CLARIN, 4/8).
