FA Still Expected To Deny Hull City Rebrand Despite Results Of Fan Vote

Season-ticket holders of EPL side Hull City may have voted narrowly in favor of changing the club's name to Hull Tigers, but that ballot "will have no bearing" on the FA council's decision "when it convenes on Wednesday to consider the proposed rebrand," according to Louise Taylor of the London GUARDIAN. The results of the poll "delighted Hull's owners, Assem and Ehab Allam and persuaded them to commit to a long term future at the club." However, it "came too late to be included in Hull's submission to the FA." Nonetheless, it is "all rather academic as the FA's membership committee have already issued a 'unanimous recommendation' that the proposal should be rejected." It would "represent a major surprise were that advice to be overturned" and the Allams are "certainly not expecting success at this stage" (GUARDIAN, 4/8).
