Netballer Susan Pratley Wants Anzac Day To Become Permanent ANZ Championship Fixture

ANZ Championship side New South Wales Swifts player Susan Pratley has "urged netball officials to join the football codes in making an Anzac Day match a permanent fixture on the ANZ Championship calendar," according to Jon Tuxworth of the CANBERRA TIMES. Pratley, who boasts "54 Australia caps, said the day was the ideal opportunity" to capitalize on the "long-standing fierce netball rivalry between Australia and New Zealand." Pratley: "On Anzac Day, everyone sits down to watch the footy and it's a big part of the sporting calendar. It's fantastic netball has jumped on to that, and we're lucky enough to be the first Australian team to do it." The Australia-New Zealand Test at Canberra in October sold out within days, "sending officials a clear message the city is hungry for top-flight netball." Pratley said, "I think it's something they want to do, but at the moment there's no room to expand" (CANBERRA TIMES, 4/8).
