Since June, "local games at all AFA levels have been played in front of only fans of the home teams." The "same has not been true for matches in the Argentine Cup or international games, in which fans of both teams are allowed to attend." Berni said, "Tuesday we will have a meeting with the AFA to allow the return of visiting fans, at least in Buenos Aires, after the World Cup." The measure "will apply to games played in the first division and the four levels below the Argentine first division." The idea "of the government and the AFA is to consult with provincial authorities to determine if they are also in condition to guarantee the presence of visiting fans at Argentina's other stadiums." A fan's death on June 10 last year "was the first episode to bring about the ban of visiting fans in Buenos Aires," but the "event that extended the ban to all Argentine stadiums" occurred on July 21, when two people "were killed during a clash between factions of Boca Juniors supporters" (CLARIN, 4/6).
