Sport1 Reports Successful March Numbers With Market Share Increases Of 25%

German sports network Sport1 obtained a market share of 1.4% in the target demographic 14-49 in March, which represents a 25% increase over the same time period last year. The free-TV channel's overall market share was 0.9% in March, which is a 22% increase over March '13. The reason for Sport1's success in March was largely due to its shows "Der Volkswagen Doppelpass," "Hattrick Live" and "Bundesliga Pur." In addition to its football broadcasts, Sport1 recorded high ratings for its MotoGP coverage. The season-opening Grand Prix in Qatar attracted an average of 490,000 viewers, with a peak audience of 700,000. In the target demographic, the race had a market share of 2.5%. It was Sport1's highest-rated season-opening broadcast since it started covering MotoGP in '09 (Sport1).
