World Curling Federation President: Beijing Has No Problem Hosting Winter Olympics

World Curling Federation President Kate Caithness said in Beijing Sunday that China "did a fabulous job in 2008 Beijing Olympics" and has no problem in hosting the 2022 Winter Olympics, according to XINHUA. Caithness, who is attending the 2014 men's World Curling Championship which kicked off on Saturday, said that "the organizing works of the championship so far were good." Caithness said, "The venue is first class. The infrastructure is in place, the ice is good, the teams are happy, we are happy." Caithness said that "the good results that the Chinese team achieved in Sochi and the growth of curling in China would also help" China's bidding. Caithness: "So often people asked me what was the biggest surprise in Sochi and it was by far the Chinese men's team. They should have medaled. They deserved to win a medal. They were so good. The viewing figures from China for the Sochi Olympics for curling was 660 million so I think it's growing like crazy" (XINHUA, 3/30).
