Cristiano Ronaldo Tops U.S. University MIT's List Of 20th Century's Most Popular Footballers

U.S. university MIT has used a project called Pantheon to "put together a list of the most famous people in the entire world," according to Nicholas Mendola of NBC SPORTS. The project has "collected and analyzed data on cultural production from 4,000 B.C. to 2010." The list of the most popular footballers in the world is led by Real Madrid's CRISTIANO RONALDO, who is followed by PELE, Barcelona's LIONEL MESSI and former footballers RONALDO, RONALDINHO, DIEGO MARADONA, ZINEDINE ZIDANE and DAVID BECKHAM (NBC SPORTS, 3/17).
