On the subject of presenter GARY LINEKER, she apparently said that "most now see the former England striker as a 'crisp salesman' rather than a footballer," before she added: "Sorry, they see him as a broadcaster" (London INDEPENDENT, 3/5). ... UAE side Al Ain named Croatian football coach ZLATKO DALIC as its technical supervisor. While Al Ain said that Dalic "would concentrate solely on improving the 'elite teams' under the first-team squad and reserves, they did not rule out the possibility of him eventually replacing" SANCHEZ FLORES as first-team coach. Al Ain sport sector Manager KHALIFA SULEIMAN "would not reveal the details of the contract, but revealed that negotiations to finalise the agreement are still ongoing" (THE NATIONAL, 3/5). ... Russian track cyclist KIRILL SVESHNIKOV "has been provisionally suspended after testing positive for a banned substance" (REUTERS, 3/5). ... The Qatar Olympic Committee and Int'l Centre for Sport Security named Italian para-athlete and former European world record holder in the 100m GIUSY VERSACE as a "Save the Dream" ambassador. She will also join the Save the Dream Athletes Integrity Panel led by former footballer ALESSANDRO DEL PIERO. It "will feature several high-profile pro athletes from different sports and regions globally (GULF TIMES, 3/4).
