Telefonica-Owned Movistar TV Presents F1, MotoGP Broadcast Deals In Spain

Movistar TV on Wednesday officially presented "its prices and broadcast teams for its coverage of the upcoming F1 and MotoGP seasons" in Spain, according to Jaime Martín of MARCA. The TV offerings will be available "only to houses with Movistar's Internet service." The packages will cost from €41-€107 ($56-$147), "depending on which of Movistar's Internet and phone services are bundled together." Movistar TV, which is owned by telecom company Telefonica, will offer "four packages, with each featuring a channel called Mini that will offer movies and basic programming." Customers will "also have the option to add three additional channels." A channel called "Football" will carry Champions League, La Liga and Copa del Rey matches. A "For All" channel will offer thematic programming and an "Energy" channel will broadcast F1, MotoGP and other sporting events like the Tour de France and the French Open. Movistar TV Presenter Ernest Riveras said, "We are going for people that want to see everything." Movistar TV Dir Luis Velo said, "In one year we want to be pay-TV leaders. We currently have 700,000 subscribers and we want to reach 1.5 million" (MARCA, 3/5). The EP reported the new offer, called "Movistar Fusión Televisión," will launch in Spain on Friday (EP, 3/5).

MOVISTAR, YAMAHA FINALIZE DEAL: AS reported an agreement between Movistar and the Yamaha MotoGP team "that was recently announced was confirmed on Wednesday by Yamaha." The deal will run through '18 (AS, 3/5).
