Welsh Rugby Union club Cardiff Dir of Rugby PHIL DAVIES "has resigned" with immediate effect. Davies, a former Wales int'l, has been in charge at Blues since May '12, and, according to an official statement, had "overseen a period of major change and development for the region." However, following defeat to bottom-place Zebre in the Pro12 on Saturday, the 50-year-old "decided to quit" (London GUARDIAN, 3/3). ... Australian Football League CEO ANDREW DEMETRIOU will stand down at the end of the '14 season. Demetriou had been at his post since '03 (SBD Global). ... Spanish Basketball League (ACB) side Fuenlabrada hired LUIS CASIMIRO to replace JESÚS MATEO as the club’s coach. It will be Casimiro's second stint with Fuenlabrada after coaching the club from ’04-08 (MARCA, 3/3).
