German Football League Pressures VfR Aalen To Increase Stadium Capacity

The German Football League (DFL) "has increased the pressure on 2nd Bundesliga club VfR Aalen to increase the capacity of its stadium," according to the DPA. The club "is allowed to play in the Scholz Arena, which is actually too small, with a special permit this season." However, the DFL "now wants to see progress in terms of increasing the arena's capacity." The Scholz Arena currently has a capacity of 13,251. The statutes of the 2nd Bundesliga "require a minimum capacity of 15,000." However, DFL Managing Dir Andreas Rettig "has once again hinted at a willingness for compromise" (DPA, 2/25).
