FC Kaiserslautern Chair Stefan Kuntz Calls For Change Of German Cup Format

Second Bundesliga FC Kaiserslautern Chair Stefan Kuntz is calling for "home field for lower level clubs" in the German Cup competition, according to the SID. Kuntz "called for this change to the competition format after the draw revealed that his club has to play an away game against a Bundesliga club." Kaiserslautern "has to travel to Munich to take on Bayern Munich in the DFB Pokal semifinal." However, the German Football Federation (DFB) "is not considering changing the competition's format." DFB President Wolfgang Niersbach has said several times that there is "no need to change the current format of the DFB Pokal" (SID, 2/17).
