Chinese Super League Beijing Guoan Coach Manzano Could Bridge Spanish, Asian Football

Spanish football coach Gregorio Manzano's hire as coach of Chinese Super League club Beijing Guoan "confirms that Spanish football is continuing to be in fashion in China," according to Alonso Castilla of EL CONFIDENCIAL. It is "expected that Manzano's arrival in China will mean a great benefit for competition, as Manzano could attract more coaches or players to China in the future." Clubs like Real Madrid, Barcelona, Atlético and Villarreal opened markets in China years ago, "and the success of La Roja has done the rest." Chinese clubs "believe that with money, they can realize their dreams of attracting top Spanish players, but currently, no elite Spanish players have accepted the challenge of playing in the Chinese Super League" (EL CONFIDENCIAL, 2/18).
