The remaining drivers to sign up to Formula E’s new drivers’ club have been revealed with JAIME ALGUERSUARI, NICOLAS MINASSIAN, ALEX BRUNDLE, ROBERT DOORNBOOS, CHRISTIAN KLIEN, CONOR DALY, KATHERINE LEGGE and BEN COLLINS. The drivers -- seven male and one female -- join those previously announced bringing the total to 24 (Formula E). ... Formula E team ABT Sportsline will contest the first season of the new FIA Formula E Championship with former F1 and Audi factory driver LUCAS DI GRASSI and German youngster DANIEL ABT. The German team is the first of the ten teams in the field to have presented its driver line-up (Formula E). ... Former Denmark national football team coach RICHARD MOLLER NIELSEN, who led the national side to a surprice victory at Euro 1992, "has died" at the age of 76. Moller Nielsen "had been ill since having an operation for a brain tumour in July" (BBC, 2/13). ... The reinstatement of the Indian Olympic Association by the IOC during the Sochi Games meant Indian Alpine skier HIMANSHU THAKUR “was provided with skis, boots and poles for next week’s giant slalom race.” Thakur: “Two days after [the reinstatement], they gave us money and now I have equipment” (AP, 2/13). ... Indian sports journalist K.K. NAIR died Tuesday at the age of 86. Nair was a founding member of the Sports Writers Club and served as the president of the “rechristened Tamil Nadu Sports Journalists Association” (THE HINDU, 2/13). ... DAVID BECKHAM visited the Philippines on Thursday “to give comfort to survivors of the Asian country's deadliest-ever typhoon” (AFP, 2/13)... Former Singapore bowler REMY ONG has been named national head coach by the Singapore Bowling Federation “and will lead the Republic's keglers” at this year's Asian Games in Incheon (STRAITS TIMES, 2/12). .... La Liga Villarreal midfielder FRANCISCO JAVIER FARINOS announced his “retirement from football due to an Achilles injury.” Farinos has “not played since March due to the problem and revealed he wanted to retire in December but was convinced to make one last attempt at a comeback” by Villarreal coach MARCELINO (FOOTBALL ESPANA, 2/12). ... Barcelona President JOSEP MARIA BARTOMEU confirmed he will “stand for re-election in 2016.” Bartomeu: “The project is long and ambitious, lasting until 2021. The goal is to be in the club and to help. I will be a candidate in 2016” (FOOTBALL ESPANA, 2/13). ... Italian footballer MAURO CAMORANESI, 37, confirmed on Wednesday “that he will retire from playing at the end of the season.” Camoranesi, who currently plays for Argentine club Racing Avellaneda, “admitted that his current physical condition played a big part in his decision” (FOOTBALL ITALIA, 2/13). ... GERARD PIQUE of Barcelona and CARLOS MARCHENA of Spanish second division side Deportivo De Coruña were named VPs of the Spanish Footballers’ Association (AFE) at a meeting following LUIS MANUEL RUBIALES’ re-election as the organization’s president (MARCA, 2/13).
