Olympic Notes: British Swimming To Appeal UK Sport's Withdrawal Of Funding

British Swimming has notified UK Sport it "intends to appeal against the decision to withdraw funding" from the women's Olympic sports of synchronized swimming and water polo (PA, 2/11). ... An environmental activist who "investigated abuses in the build-up to the Sochi Olympics was sent to prison for three years by a Russian court on Wednesday morning, in a case that fellow environmentalists have said is deeply flawed and intended as revenge for his work." A court in Krasnodar confirmed a December ruling that "activist Evgeny Vitishko's three-year suspended sentence should become real" (London GUARDIAN, 2/12). ... The PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Organizing Committee and the Olympic Broadcasting Services signed their Olympic Broadcast Cooperation Agreement on Wednesday at the Sochi Int'l Broadcast Center in Olympic Park (PyeongChang 2018).
