Bayern Munich's Rummenigge Says RB Leipzig Could Become Problem For DFL

Bayern Munich Exec Chair Karl-Heinz Rummenigge believes current 3rd League club RB Leipzig "could become a problem" for the German Football League (DFL) in the future, according to SPOX. Its concept "has to be judged differently" than those of company-owned Bundesliga clubs VfL Wolfsburg and Bayer Leverkusen. Asked about RB Leipzig's potential due to its millions from Red Bull, Rummenigge said, "RB Leipzig won't become a problem for Bayern Munich, but more likely for the DFL. The club will play in the 2nd Bundesliga in the not so distant future and also pop up in the Bundesliga at some point." Then at the latest, the league "would have to deal with it." Rummenigge: "So far, however, there are only the examples of Leverkusen and Wolfsburg that are exempt from the 50+1 regulation due to their relationships that grew for decades. The third example, Leipzig and the Red Bull company that is behind it, would provide the DFL with certain stomach aches" (SPOX, 1/28).
