Formula One Team Force India Unveils Photo Of 2014 Car On Its Website

Force India "has become the first Formula One team to reveal its new car for the 2014 season," according to the AFP. Or "at least a partial glimpse," as the team, backed by Vijay Mallya, "released a single photograph of the VJM07 on its official website." The new car, which will be driven by Mexico's Sergio Perez, dropped by McLaren after one season, and Nico Hülkenberg, "is kitted out in the traditional Indian colours of saffron, white and green on a black background" (AFP, 1/23). REUTERS' Alan Baldwin reported Caterham Team Principal Cyril Abiteboul said that F1's new crop of cars "will look like something out of a science fiction horror movie with front ends that are the stuff of nightmares." When asked about the nose on his team's yet-to-be-revealed 2014 creation, Abiteboul said, "It does remind me a little bit of the monster in 'Alien.' It is going to be ugly. Kids should be dreaming when they see a Formula One car. I don't know what sort of dream or nightmare you will get when you look at those cars" (REUTERS, 1/22).
