Marketplace Roundup: European Handball Federation Signs Deal With Engelbert Strauss

The European Handball Federation for the EHF Euros has secured a sponsorship agreement with European mail order compnay englebert strauss. It covers both the men's and women's EHF Euro 2014, which begins in Denmark on Sunday and runs through Jan. 26, and in Hungary/Croatia from Dec. 7-21. Englebert strauss will receive in-camera view brand positioning. Ad spots at both events include the center circle and LED boards as well as brand integration on the players' shirt sleeves. Use of the event logo  as well as website presence are included in the package (Infront). ... Globacom has signed Nigerian national team striker Emmanuel Emenike as brand ambassador (NIGERIAN TRIBUNE, 1/5). ... World Snooker announced that BetVictor "has renewed its title sponsorship of the Welsh Open world ranking event." The BetVictor Welsh Open will run from Feb. 19 to March 2. Total prize money has increased from £250,000 to £300,000 ($410,000-$492,000) (WALES ONLINE, 1/6). ... Australian insurance group QBE "has secured the naming rights to Auckland’s North Harbour Stadium for the next five years." QBE, which "is a key partner" of England’s Rugby Football Union, has "agreed terms with operator North Harbour Stadium Trust to rename the 25,000-capacity rugby and soccer venue QBE Stadium." Financial terms "were not released" (SOCCEREX, 1/6). ... Sauber F1 team has extended its premium partnership with Mexican telecom Telmex. Telmex's logo will continue to have a presence on Sauber F1 cars (Sauber F1). ... BMW Deutschland has increased its involvement in the sport of luge to become an official partner of the Int'l Luge Federation (FIL). The partnership, which is set for multiple years, will make BMW the "Official Main Sponsor of the FIL World Cup," "Official Partner of the FIL World and European Championships," "Official Car Partner of the FIL World Cup and the Federation" and "Official Presenting Sponsor of the FIL Team Relay World Cup" (BMW).
