Belgian Businessman Duchâtelet Completes Takeover Of Charlton Athletic

Belgian businessman Roland Duchâtelet has "completed his takeover" of League Championship club Charlton Athletic, according to the BBC. Duchâtelet's company, Staprix NV, will "acquire 100% of the shares, subject to final legal formalities." Former Addicks Chair Richard Murray "becomes non-executive chairman." Outgoing Chair Michael Slater will "step down from the board of directors after a short handover period, as will fellow directors Tony Jimenez and Martin Prothero." Duchâtelet, a "high-profile business tycoon" who "made his fortune in electronics, owns a number of clubs across Europe" (BBC, 1/3).

DUCHÂTELET EYEING ALCORCON: The EFE reported Duchâtelet "could be interested in acquiring Spanish second division side Alcorcón, according to Belgian media reports." Footgoal and Voetbalkrant "indicated on their websites that Duchâtelet is negotiating to buy the club" (EFE, 1/5).
