Austrian F1 Race Gets OK From Authority, Will Be Allowed To Host 225K Spectators

The authority in charge of granting permission to the Red Bull Ring to host the Austrian F1 Grand Prix "has given its approval for the race to go ahead," according to the KURIER. The circuit in Spielberg, which will host the F1 race from June 20-22, "will be allowed to host a maximum of 225,000 spectators over the grand prix weekend" (KURIER, 1/3). EUROSPORT's Kuntschik & Mitchell reported circuit management expects "a maximum of 80,000 people each day on Saturday and Sunday, despite previous forecasts of only half that number." Red Bull Owner Dietrich Mateschitz "is funding the event himself" (EUROSPORT, 1/5).
