JOHN HUGHES "has been appointed" manager of Scottish Premier League side Inverness Caledonian Thistle, replacing TERRY BUTCHER on a two-and-a-half year deal. The former Celtic defender "secured the position ahead of the likes of" Alloa Manager PAUL HARTLEY and former Kilmarnock Manager KENNY SHIELS after Butcher left the club to move to Easter Road (PA, 12/4). ... UAE Automobile and Touring Club President MOHAMMED BEN SULAYEM is the new FIA VP for mobility for the Middle East region. His appointment "was confirmed at the FIA General Assembly in Paris on Monday where Sulayem was elected unanimously by the Middle East FIA Mobility clubs in attendance." Sulayem "had previously served two terms" as VP for sport since '08 under current FIA President JEAN TODT and his predecessor, MAX MOSLEY (PADDOCK TALK, 12/3). ... League One Swindon Town Chair JED MCCRORY "has left" following Dir of Football LEE POWER's takeover of the club. McCrory's Seebeck 87 consortium "bought a 99% shareholding" in the club from ANDREW BLACK in February. Power "came in as a director and part-owner in April" and his company, Swinton 20 Reds, has now assumed control, with the 41-year-old named chairman. Following the change of ownership, the club released a statement saying McCrory had "reluctantly" resigned (BBC, 12/3).
