FIFA Launches First Multi-Platform App Ahead Of Final Brazil World Cup Draw

FIFA "has extended its media platform with the launch of its first app in five languages -- English, French, German, Portuguese and Spanish," according to Paul Nicholson of INSIDE WORLD FOOTBALL. FIFA predicts the app will download over 70 million copies in the first few months, "making it the world's most downloaded sports application." Free to download and available on iPhone, iPad and Android smartphones and tablets on Monday, "the launch coincides with the Final Draw for the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil." The draw will be covered live in the app on Friday, but not streamed "due to television rights being owned by FIFA partner broadcasters." The app "will have exclusive comment from coaches as the groups and games are announced." The core of the app is the World Match Centre, "which pulls in live data and match coverage from more than 200 leagues and competitions worldwide, and its general football news section" (INSIDE WORLD FOOTBALL, 12/2).
