Red Bull Ring Operators Submit Documents For F1 Race Approval To Authority

The documents that are necessary for the approval of the Austrian F1 Grand Prix at the Red Bull Ring "were submitted to the appropriate authority," according to Elisabeth Holzer of the KURIER. The operating concept, which consists of 100 pages, "clarifies, in addition to attendance numbers, parking concepts, arrival and departure procedures as well as safety technology." The operator tries, as expected, "to bundle the permitted attendance number into a few days." The racetrack expects 190,000 spectators for the F1 weekend, 30,000 on Friday and 90,000 each on Saturday and Sunday. To make this possible, the authority "would have to change the currently permitted attendance number of 40,000 per event." The authority "will also examine if fine-particulate pollution and noise pollution stay inside the environmental guidelines that have been approved for the track." District consultant Harald Schnedl said, "If the examinations are positive the authority will issue the required permits before Christmas" (KURIER, 11/26).
