Malaysian Tenpin Bowling Congress Hoping For More Sponsors After Canon Withdrawal

The Malaysian Tenpin Bowling Congress "will have to find ways to ensure the Malaysian Open continues to offer attractive prize money next year," according to Shamshul Fitri of THE STAR. This year's tournament, which ended at the Sunway Mega Lanes in Sunway Pyramid on Saturday, "saw the axe fall on the Canon Cup, a Malaysia versus Rest of The World team event, following Canon's withdrawal as the sponsor." Fortunately for the MTBC, "Century Logistics Holdings Bhd and Astro stepped in as sponsors." The MTBC also had to take out some money from its own coffers "to top up the prize money." With RM362,500 ($112,600) on offer this year, "the Malaysian Open has the distinction of offering the biggest prize money in the South-East Asian region" (THE STAR, 11/25).
