Executive Transactions

The Board of Golf Australia appointed JOHN HOPKINS as chairman. Hopkins replaces ANNE LENAGAN, who retired at the board's recent meeting after having served in the position for three and a half years. Hopkins was elected unopposed. Hopkins has been a professional company director in recent years and has served as a chairman and director of a number of public listed companies over the past 25 years (Golf Australia). ... British Olympic Association Chair SEBASTIAN COE has been elected to the exec committee of the European Olympic Committees. Coe "will hold the post for an initial term of four years" (ITV, 11/23). ... Super Rugby Side Brumbies CEO ANDREW FAGAN said "it makes sense" to quit the Super Rugby club now, declaring that it is "time for a new challenge after 12 years in charge of the ACT franchise." Fagan announced he was resigning in December, "just months after signing a new one-year contract to lead the Brumbies into the future." It continues the Brumbies' "turbulent off-season" which was triggered by coach JAKE WHITE's decision to quit the last two years of his contract despite lifting the team to the top of Super Rugby (SYDNEY MORNING HERALD, 11/22). ... Great Britain's PHILIP CRAVEN has been re-elected as president of the Int'l Paralympic Committee for a fourth successive term following Sunday's elections at the 16th IPC General Assembly in Athens, Greece. Craven will serve a final four-year term after he received 127 votes in the IPC Governing Board elections. Craven was chosen over fellow Britain and Cerebral Palsy Int'l Sports and Recreation Association candidate ALAN DICKSON, who polled 20 votes (IPC).
