Facility Notes: Bury Renames Ground The JD Stadium After Sponsorship

League One Bury's ground "has been renamed" The JD Stadium after the club secured "the largest commercial deal in the club's history." The Shakers have agreed to a three-year deal with the sports retailer JD Sports Fashion, "which will also see JD become the main shirt sponsor from next season" (MANCHESTER EVENING NEWS, 11/12). ... Derbyshire County Cricket Club wants "to redevelop the County Ground, their home for the last 143 years and want to host a World Cup match" in '19. The county will apply for £3.65M ($5.8M) of funding "to improve the ground which the club says is the only viable option if they are to stay in Derby" (SKY SPORTS, 11/12). ... The Australia Football League "has blocked Football Federation Australia" from booking Etihad Stadium in Melbourne for the A-League grand final. The standoff means Melbourne Victory, should it win hosting rights, "will have to play the title decider at AAMI Park, denying in excess of 20,000 fans the chance to attend" (HERALD SUN, 11/12).
