Microsoft Confirms It Is Vying For Partial Title Sponsorship Of Real Madrid's Stadium

Microsoft Spain President María Garaña on Wednesday confirmed reports that Microsoft is "discussing becoming the partial title sponsor of Real Madrid's Santiago Bernabéu stadium," according to the EP. Garaña said, "We are talking." Garaña also insisted that it is just "talking," saying, "Talking, that is where we are" (EP, 11/6). In London, Pete Jenson reported Garaña said, "They are speaking with us and with various other companies about the stadium." It seems the "Santiago Bernabeu Microsoft stadium is a frontrunner in the race to be the moniker of the club's home." Madrid is "looking for ways to finance planned renovation work at the stadium and aware that Bayern Munich" receives around €180M ($243.4M) from "their Allianz Arena deal." Real Madrid has "moved to bring an end to 67 years of history" (DAILY MAIL, 11/6). GOAL's Henry Jackson reported the 85,000-seat stadium was inaugurated in '47 and was named after former Real Madrid President Santiago Bernabeu Yeste (GOAL, 11/6).
