Event Notes: Remaining 2014 Glasgow Tickets Opened To General Public

Members of the public hoping to be at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow "are snapping up the remaining tickets for the sporting spectacle." With around 76,000 tickets for the event remaining as of Tuesday morning, organizers "opened up the sale to everyone at 10am, regardless of whether they had previously applied for tickets" (SCOTSMAN, 11/5). ... Saturday's A-League game in Christchurch, New Zealand is "set to be brought forward by half an hour after the Wellington Phoenix and New Zealand Football struck a deal over the availability of their All Whites players." Perth Glory's Shane Smeltz and the Phoenix's six All Whites "will take the AMI Stadium turf at a new kickoff time of 5pm." The players will then "rush to Christchurch Airport" for their 8:40pm flight to Auckland, where a 10:45pm "connection to Los Angeles awaits" (FAIRFAX NZ NEWS, 11/6). ... Malaysia is "set to take the SEA Games to Sabah and Sarawak for the first time after the Cabinet approved the Youth and Sports Ministry’s proposal to host the 2017 Games." But "only selected sports will be held there." For example, aquatics "would be held in Sarawak" (THE STAR, 11/5). ... The Swinging Skirts World Ladies Masters golf tournament "will be held this year at Linkou Miramar Golf Country Club in New Taipei City from Dec. 5-8" (CNA, 11/5). ... Australia's request "to draft an extra player into the world cup squad to replace the injured Luke Lewis has been rejected." The Kangaroos "approached tournament officials in a bid to call up a replacement after Lewis was ruled out of the tournament with a shoulder injury" (SYDNEY MORNING HERALD, 11/5).
