Former F1 Driver Aguri Suzuki Launches Tokyo-Based Super Aguri Formula E Team
Japanese driver Aguri Suzuki and Formula E Holdings on Friday reached an agreement that will see Super Aguri Formula E become the sixth team to enter the FIA Formula E Championship. The team, which is based in Tokyo, a major market for electric vehicle technology, is a new adventure for Suzuki. Suzuki's F1 experience as a driver, team owner and mentor includes eight seasons driving from '88-95. Super Aguri becomes the championship's second Asia-based team after China Racing and the sixth of 10 teams that will be put forward to the FIA for final approval by the World Motor Sport Council. Joining Super Aguri is Team Principal Mark Preston. Suzuki and Preston last worked together at Super Aguri F1, where Preston assisted in the team's formation and worked as technical director. Peter McCool will be the team's technical director and Ferry Spijkerman will be commercial director (Formula E).
