Bundesliga club Hertha BSC Berlin "has extended its contract with GM MICHAEL PREETZ until '17." The 46-year-old, whose contract was set to expire in '14, "has as expected signed an early contract extension for three additional years" (SID, 10/24). ... Australian Football League side Brisbane Lions announced it has appointed BOB SHARPLESS as chairman. Sharpless, currently deputy chair of the Springfield Land Corp., was elected after Directors ANGUS JOHNSON, PAUL WILLIAMS and LINDA NASH announced they are leaving the board as part of an agreement to resolve the board dispute. The board Sharpless will chair includes former coach LEIGH MATTHEWS, MICK POWER, CAMERON MILNER and PETER MCGREGOR (Brisbane Lions).
