Former ManU Manager ALEX FERGUSON appeared on PBS' "Charlie Rose" to discuss his tenure at the iconic club. Ferguson said while he was at ManU, "one or two offers came along" to leave the club for another "it always came back to this point: Why would you leave United? Where is a bigger challenge?" Ferguson said "when clubs came to me and offered me jobs, I thought to myself, 'Where is the bigger challenge: Creating history at United or trying to create it somewhere else where I have to start again and build on the philosophies I had?'" Ferguson said as manager, he "always made sure I was in control" so then the players "knew who the manager was." Ferguson noted of the ManU facilities, "When a player is here he sees the best facilities and we're always adapting and improving." Ferguson said despite winning the league title and FA Cup three times, as well as the Euro Cup, Chelsea Owner ROMAN ABRAMOVICH "changes the manager so many times." Ferguson added, "That works for them in terms of keep winning, but you look at the long-term situation and you'd worry about that." Ferguson was adamant that he is done managing, noting the "timing was perfect, I went out a winner, there's no way back. I look forward to the challenges of a new life." Host CHARLIE ROSE said Abramovich "has got a lot of money" and noted Ferguson "loves horses," and then said to Ferguson, what if he says "Come manage Chelsea (and) I will give you the greatest stable of horses you've ever seen.'" Ferguson laughed and said, "It's a temptation. You always dream of having the (Kentucky) Derby winner" ("Charlie Rose," PBS, 10/1).
