Football Notes: Fenerbahce, Besiktas Court Of Arbitration For Sport Hearings Set

Turkish clubs Besiktas and Fenerbahce "will this week try to win their battle against a UEFA ban handed down for match-fixing," after the Court of Arbitration for Sport sets its hearing dates. The hearing in Besiktas's case "would take place on Tuesday, while Fenerbahce's had been scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday" (AFP, 8/20). ... Chinese Super League club Guangzhou Evergrande confirmed Monday that it has withdrawn its complaint to FIFA "over wantaway striker Lucas ­Barrios." Guangzhou has dropped the case with FIFA as it has received a €7M ($9.3M) transfer fee "for the player from Russia's FC Spartak Moscow" (AFP, 8/20). ... The Iran Football Federation said that the '13-14 Iran Hazfi Cup will start on Sept. 4 (TEHRAN TIMES, 8/19).
