UAE's Umm Al Quwain Cricket Association To Add Five Events, Host 21 In Upcoming Season

The UAE's Umm Al Quwain Cricket Association will break its record for staging tournaments when it "adds another five new tournaments to the 16 events they had last season," according to K.R. Nayar of GULF NEWS. Umm Al Quwain CA General Secretary Mushtaq Ahmad Chowdhury said, "Following the huge response from domestic teams, we have decided to increase our tournaments in the new season." Plans "are on also to create a turf wicket too." Chowdhury: "The Umm Al Quwain Municipality has given us the permission to build a turf wicket. The papers for the construction of the ground will be signed soon." The new season will start Sept. 1 with the Brothers Gas Twenty20 tournament and conclude in May (GULF NEWS, 8/20).
