UK Athletics Wants To Keep Paralympic Day At Diamond League If Interest Remains

UK Athletics "is eager to keep a day of Paralympic action attached to the London Diamond League meeting," but has admitted that "it will depend on whether public interest in the sport remains high," according to the PA. The final day of the Sainsbury's Anniversary Games on Sunday "was watched by a 60,000-strong crowd at the Olympic Stadium." UK Athletics Chair Ed Warner hopes that the two-day Diamond League meeting "will return to the venue as soon as 2015." Warner: "The real challenge will be sustaining the Paralympic interest and building it. Apart from a Paralympics there's never ever been a crowd a 10th of the size of the crowd that will be here for a Paralympic athletics meeting" (PA, 7/29).
