Former Australia Cricket Coach Mickey Arthur Seeks $3.7M Compensation From CA

Former Australia coach MICKEY ARTHUR is seeking up to A$4M ($3.7M) in compensation or his job back from Cricket Australia, claiming that "he was racially discriminated against," according to the AAP. Arthur was sacked last month before the start of the Ashes series, with CA claiming that "he failed to arrest declining standards of discipline in the team." CA lawyer DEAN KINO said, "We're disappointed it has come to this position, but Cricket Australia is confident in its position on this matter and I'm sure it will get resolved in an appropriate fashion." Arthur was reportedly on a A$400,000 a year salary with bonuses of up to A$200,000 per annum (AAP, 7/16). The PA reported Arthur, who was contracted until June 2015, was replaced by DARREN LEHMANN "after a troubled tenure which saw numerous off-field disciplinary issues." According to reports in Australia, the court documents lodged in his compensation claim also include claims captain MICHAEL CLARKE and all-rounder SHANE WATSON "are at loggerheads" (PA, 7/16).
