French Carmaker Citroen To Join WTCC With Factory Team In 2014, Continues WRC Program

French car manufacturer Citroen revealed that it "will compete in the World Touring Car Championship in '14," according to Gerald Dirnbeck of MOTORSPORT TOTAL. Citroen "will start with its own factory team," and PSA, the owner of Citroen, counts on nine-time rally champion Sebastien Loeb "as its flagship driver." In addition, the manufacturer "will also continue its World Rally Championship involvement." Citroen Team Principal Yves Matton said, "We are still standing fully behind our rally involvement and continue to work hard on achieving the best possible results in 2013. In addition, we want to increase our partnership with Abu Dhabi, so we can continue our WRC program with a new system and new goals." Citroen "has been competing with a factory team in the Middle East Rally Championship where it develops talented youth drivers" (MOTORSPORT TOTAL, 6/25).
