Bundesliga club Werder Bremen has appointed German Football Federation (DFB) Sport Dir ROBIN DUTT as its head coach. The former head coach of Freiburg and Leverkusen will replace THOMAS SCHAAF, who "was recently fired after 14 years in charge of the club." Dutt will sign a three-year contrat with Bremen until June 30, 2016 (BILD, 5/26). ... Recently relegated Bundesliga club Fortuna Dusseldorf "has fired head coach" NORBERT MEIER. A successor "has not been determined yet." However, former Fortuna player MIKE BÜSKENS "is a top candidate" for the vacant position (SÜDDEUTSCHE ZEITUNG, 5/27). ... VERN COTTER is to become Scotland rugby's next head coach -- "but at present will not be available until his contract with Clemont Auvergne ends in 2014." Unless "an early release is negotiated," SCOTT JOHNSON will remain head coach until next June (BBC, 5/27). ... Former England rugby attack coach JOE LYDON has been appointed England rugby's head of int'l player development. Lydon will move to Twickenham "from his current role as head of rugby at the Welsh Rugby Union" (PA, 5/24).
