Event Notes: Atlético Heads To Singapore For Charity Friendly

Atlético Madrid flew to Singapore on Sunday for a charity game on Wednesday against a team of local stars at Singapore's Jalan Besar Stadium. A total of 22 Atlético players, including Óliver Torres, Saúl Ñiguez and Javier Manquillo, made the flight early Sunday after the club beat Real Madrid for the Copa del Rey on Friday and celebrated with fans on Saturday (MUNDO DEPORTIVO, 5/19). ... The '12-13 Nedbank Cup Final football game to be played at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban, South Africa has sold out eight days before the fixture. Defending champion SuperSport will take on Kaizer Chiefs on May 25 (SOWETAN LIVE, 5/17). ... Police in Belgrade have made more than 104 arrests after rival football fans of the city's Partizan and Red Star teams "clashed at a match." Fans threw stones at the Partizan team bus as it approached the stadium and rival supporters "fought running battles." Inside the stadium, Red Star fans burnt several seats at the final whistle (BBC, 5/18).
