Olympic Notes: Kazakhstan Announces Potential Prize Money For Its Olympic Athletes

The Kazakhstan Sport & Physical Culture Agency announced the amounts of athlete's awards for winning medals at the Sochi Olympics on the official website of PM Serik Akhmetov. KSPCA Deputy Chair Yelsiyar Kanagatov said, "We suggest to leave the same remunerations we had for the London and Vancouver Olympics: $250,000 for a gold medal, $150,000 for silver and $75,000 for bronze, fourth, fifth and sixth places" (TENGRI NEWS, 5/14). ... Georgia PM Bidzina Ivanishvili is considering attending next year's Winter Olympics in the southern Russian city of Sochi. Ivanishvili: "I haven't received an official invitation. I don't know if I'll go to the Olympic Games. We will see how our relations will develop" (RIA NOVOSTI, 5/14).
