Former Royal Yachting Association CEO ROD CARR, the architect of Britain’s sailing success, who oversaw the rise of BEN AINSLIE to become the most decorated sailor in Olympic history, is set to be named UK Sport chairman. Carr could be named as early as Monday "as the chosen figurehead for the agency" that distributes £100M ($150M) a year to elite sport. He succeeds BARONESS CAMPELL, "who is stepping down after a decade in charge" (LONDON TIMES, 4/22).. ... U.S. Soccer Federation President SUNIL GULATI was narrowly elected to FIFA's exec committee by CONCACAF on Friday. Gulati defeated "his only rival," Mexico's JUSTINO COMPEAN, by a single vote. He will replace American CHUCK BLAZER (INSIDE WORLD FOOTBALL, 4/19). ... Former Williams F1 team Chair ADAM PARR has joined U.K. sports foundation Sported, "dedicated to securing the legacy of London 2012" (THE SUN, 4/20). ... MATT HOLT was appointed CEO of the British Amateur Boxing Association. He is responsible for the overall leadership of the BABA and the management of the World Class Performance Programme for boxing (GB Boxing).
