Chelsea Unveils New Blue Kit For '13-14 On Heels Of Adidas' Promotional Campaign

Chelsea has become "the first Premier League club to unveil their new strip for next season," according to John Drayton of the London DAILY MAIL. Chelsea has "kept it simple and stuck to their tried-and-tested blue kit which takes inspiration from past shirts worn by Chelsea greats." The club crest "reverts back to a four colour design." The launch follows a promotional campaign by adidas "which saw a number of players covered in blue paint" (DAILY MAIL, 4/18). In London, Thom Gibbs reported adidas "made a great deal of noise" about the commitment of Chelsea's players in allowing themselves to be immersed in blue paint in "what no one except adidas is calling a 'groundbreaking teaser campaign.'" Chelsea captain John Terry "was covered in blue paint for the promo shots" earlier this month, but "has been benched" for the release photograph that shows David Luiz, Fernando Torres and Oscar wearing the new shirt and more blue paint (TELEGRAPH, 4/18).
