Basketball Bundesliga Forecasts Record Revenue Of $104M For '12-13 Season

The Basketball Bundesliga (BBL) forecasts a record revenue of more than €80M ($104M) generated by the 18 clubs during the '12-13 season. BBL CEO Jan Pommer said, "Although we won't know the exact number before June 30, we already know that it will be an excellent result." Pommer added: "The numbers prove that we have a very attractive product that will, thanks to our clubs that do a fantastic job, continue to grow dynamically." In addition to the league's expected record revenue, the BBL announced that 14 clubs received their licenses for next season without any requirements, which is two more than last year. Three clubs received their licenses with requirements: s.Oliver Baskets, Phoenix Hagen and WALTER Tigers Tübingen. No decision has been made on the license applications of second-tier ProA clubs SC RASTA Vechta and BG Karlsruhe as important questions came up during the evaluation process (BBL).
