Red Bull Driver Mark Webber Has Reportedly Signed A Five-Year Deal With Porsche

Australian F1 driver Mark Webber "has reportedly signed a new five-year contract to lead Porsche" in its return to famous 24 hour endurance race Le Mans, according to Ben Harvy of NEWS LTD. Overnight Radio Le Mans announced that Mark Webber "had put pen to paper making the deal official," meaning he would join Porsche in its assault on the World Endurance Championship. Webber "is expected to quit F1 at the end of the season, when his contract with Red Bull expires." Rumors of a move to Porsche "have been simmering for some time" and ramped up following the controversial Malaysian Grand Prix (NEWS LTD., 4/15). The DPA reported Porsche on Monday "dismissed news reports" saying that Webber "was to join them from next year onwards as part of a new sports car project." Porsche spokesperson Oliver Hilger said the reports were “factually wrong” and said that the driver issue for the project was no priority at the moment (DPA, 4/15).
