Berlin-based media company Axel Springer "has appointed marketing agency Axel Springer Media Impact Managing Dir DIETMAR OTTI to the newly created position of VP/COO Int'l." The 40-year-old "will directly report to Int'l President RALPH BÜCHI." Otti will start his new position at latest on Jan. 1 (NEW BUSINESS, 2/27). ... The BBC has hired Channel 4 COO ANNE BULFORD to the newly created role of managing director, finance and operations. She will replace the BBC's outgoing CFO ZARIN PATEL as well as "absorbing some of the responsibilities" of the BBC's former COO CAROLINE THOMSON (London GUARDIAN, 2/26). ... Super League rugby club Castleford Tigers Commercial Dir NICK FOZZARD has left the club just a week after CEO STEVE FERRES quit. COACHES/MANAGERS: Fenerbahçe Ülker coach SIMONE PIANIGIANI "announced his resignation from the Istanbul basketball club." The club said the Italian coach resigned due to "personal reasons." ERTUGRUL ERDOGAN will act as a "caretaker coach in the absence of Pianigiani" (HURRIYET DAILY NEWS, 2/27).
